Welcome Grant Program

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I access the grant if I’m not part of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe?

This program of grant support is open to all Anglican congregations in Europe seeking to respond to the needs of refugees in their midst. This includes congregations of:

  • The Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe (of the Episcopal Church)
  • The Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe (of the Church of England )
  • The Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church (IERE)
  • The Lusitanian Catholic Apostolic Evangelical Church, Portugal
  • Congregations of the Old Catholic Churches of the Union of Utrecht

Grants will not be made to individuals or to parachurch organizations.

How can I access the application form and/or report forms?

The application and report  forms can be accessed (and/or downloaded) on the Convocation’s dedicated grant page.

Can a congregation submit more than one application for funding?

The Convocation may consider more than one project from the same congregation, but the decision will depend greatly on the volume of project applications which are received.

Can I apply for more funding to extend my project?

Congregations with a project which is funded by the Convocation wishing to re-apply for funding for a second year may submit a request using the ‘Second Year Project’ form (coming soon).

Does the Convocation Consider grants greater than 15,000 EUR?

Exceptional circumstances may justify a higher request but this will have to be justified by the applicant. Possible circumstances that would cause a request for a higher amount to be evaluated include, but are not limited to: high cost of living at project site in relation to the average in European countries; contingent issues which generate an increase to the cost of the project. Documentation of expenses and/or rationale for each forecasted budget item must be included with the applicant’s extraordinary request.

Is there a budget template I must use?

Yes. The budget template is accessible on the Convocation’s dedicated grant page.

What is the minimum duration a project can have?

The timeline of a project may go from 3 months to 12 months. Grant support may be renewed for a second year.

What is the due date for submitting my next report?

No matter when the start of the project is, the deadlines and grace periods for reporting are as follows:

First quarter 2024:

  • Deadline for submission March 15th, 2024.
  • Grace period open until March 31st 2024.

  • Deadline for submission June 15th, 2024.
  • Grace period open until June 30th 2024.

TEMPLATE FOR QUARTERLY REPORT

If in doubt about your project’s specific timeline, further clarification can be sought by writing to the Review Committee at welcomegrant@tec-europe.org

I have submitted my application, but have realized that I made some major or minor mistakes. What should I do?

There is no need to worry. If we do not understand something within the application, we will contact you via email to clarify.

In the case that you estimate your mistakes to be significant, you may also submit a second complete application via the online form. You may submit this completed corrected application within one week (7 days) of your initial submission without explanation, and only your most recent application will be considered.

Evaluation and decision-making process (and related timeline) will start from the time of your last submission.

I haven’t received a response. What should I do?

Applicants are advised to check for messages from the Review Committee (welcomegrant@tec-europe.org) and/or Planning Center (no-reply=churchcenteronline.com@mg.churchcenteronline.com) in their spam, non-priority, or other mail folders. Marking these emails as important, moving them into the inbox, or adding these addresses to the applicant’s contact list should improve delivery. Please make sure to search your mailbox for messages which include @tec-europe.org as well as churchcenteronline.com. Email providers vary; you may need to follow a more specific procedure to identify emails from the Convocation as desirable.

If after five weeks you have not received any notice, there may have been a technical problem with your initial application form submission. Please notify the Review Committee at welcomegrant@tec-europe.org, and attach any supporting documentation such as the PDF capture of the post-submission page or the automated email receipt of your application.

Can this grant funding cover staff costs?

Funding covers personnel costs only as needed for project implementation. Grants will not be awarded to support ongoing operational costs of congregations.

If I am awarded a grant, how do I take part in the training program provided by Episcopal Relief and Development and the Convocation?

Two to three Community of Practice webinars will be scheduled and delivered throughout the year. You will receive an e-mail notification at least three weeks in advance and be given the opportunity to register online for each session.
