Climate and Creation Care

Zero Waste Lent 2022

United in caring for God’s creation throughout Lent and beyond

As we prepare for the watchful season of Lent, the Creation & Climate Change ministry initiative and the members of the Creation Care Grassroots Network warmly invite and encourage the people of the Convocation to join us in ZERO WASTE LENT 2022, a Lenten series of themed weekly discussions about climate change and our Christian responsibility to care for God’s creation.

Zero Waste Lent is the FIRST ever Convocation-wide conversation about climate change. This is an opportunity to build unity through loving dialogue that explores the steps we can take to develop sustained, contemplative action practices in our daily lives, our congregations, and our communities.

Each Thursday from March 10th – April 7th at 7:00 PM CET (10:00 PM – 11:00 PM Georgia Standard Time), we will meet on Zoom for an hour of prayer, listening, and encouragement through shared stories. Conversations will be lively and include fun activities, and suggestions for creative actions that answer God’s call to preserve and protect our planet.

To begin the series, participants are being asked to calculate their carbon footprint using the Global Footprint Network’s carbon Footprint Calculator.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED (click here). Participants can enter the series at any time – join us for one conversation or the entire series.

A follow up communication with prompts for pulpit announcements, bulletin inserts, an announcement for inclusion on your church website, and printable posters, is forthcoming.

There will also be updated weekly announcements for each week of Lent.
